New Eastside Neighborhood
The New Eastside is a neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. It is located east of Michigan Avenue, south of the Chicago River, west of Lake Shore Drive, and north of Randolph Street. The area was formerly occupied by rail yards and parking lots before it was redeveloped in the 1960s and 1970s into a mixed-use community with residential buildings, commercial spaces, and public parks. The neighborhood is known for its modern architecture, including iconic buildings like the Aon Center and the Aqua Tower, and it is home to a diverse population of residents and businesses.
The New Eastside neighborhood got its name in the 1970s when it was developed as an upper-class residential area in the eastern portion of the Loop area. It is home to many high-rise condominiums, hotels, and commercial buildings, as well as a number of parks and public spaces
